Club Profile

The Rotary Club of Lubang is a brainchild of Mayor Juan M. Sanchez, a PMAer/retired soldier currently the mayor of the Municipality of Lubang.  After his inauguration as mayor in 2001, he already looked around for someone who could organize a Rotary Club because he felt that a socio-civic organization like the Rotary would be an effective partner in developing Lubang Island and uplift the lives of the community.

Mayor Sanchez convinced our CP Noli T. Liboro, the former provincial Board member of Occ. Mindoro to spearhead in organizing a Rotary Club of Lubang.  It was then that Rtr. Willie Sato husband of Gov. Nene Ramirez of Occ. Mindoro invited Noli Liboro to attend organizational meeting of RC United Nations sponsored by RC Downtown Manila. He was formally introduced to the officers of RC Downtown Manila headed then PP Arsenio Ong in the company of PDG Sonny Ventura and Johnny Arruego and PP Ben Pineda who unanimously assured Mr. Liboro of their unconditional support in the organizing of the Rotary Club of Lubang Island under RI District 3810.

Inspired by the support of RCDM, Mr. Noli Liboro called on his kababayans to join in forming the RC Lubang Island.   Among those who answered his call were: Aure Villagarcia, Boy Zapata, Ed Satur, Atty. Ed Tarriela, Roy Tarriela and Judge Venacio Tarriela.  It was in the residence of Noli Liboro that the “first” meeting of the Rotary Club of Lubang was held on a Christmas party of Dec. 2001.

It was the untiring support of PP Ben Pineda and the wisdom extended by Aure Villagarcia, Ding Quintos, Mayor Sanchez and its first set of members that bought the Club to its commendable status now.  True to its mandate of Rotary objectives, the Club has greatly help alleviate the living conditions of our kababayans in Lubang and Looc.  Today the Club is still the forerunner in socio civic activities in Lubang Island.

The glory belongs to not a single person but the collective will of many to share their talent, expertise, time and resources to bring progress to Lubang.
