Rotary Club of Mamburao Central Launches "Adopt A-Minority School Project"

August 23-24, 2012 - Rotary Club of Mamburao Central launched its Flagship Project “ADOPT A-MINORITY SCHOOL PROJECT’ at Tuguilan Minority School and Taguan Minority School.

Onslaught of torrential rains and overflowing rivers did not hinder the eagerness and enthusiasm of the members of the Rotary Club of Mamburao Central to deliver the school supplies and easy-to-cook food stuff to the minority school-aged children.  The value of volunteerism, generosity and love for others inspired these committed Rotarians to walk almost one and a half kilometers of rocky and muddy road from the barrio of Tayamaan to reach SitioTuguilan where the adopted minority school is located.  It’s worth to mention the braveness of the Rotarians crossing two rivers despite the bad weather condition. With the brilliant idea to invest in education of young people and support  pupils’ aspirations for academic success, the Rotary Club of Mamburao Central launched its Flagship Project better known as “ADOPT A-MINORITY SCHOOL PROJECT’  last August 23 and 24 at Tuguilan Minority School and Taguan Minority School respectively.

In the advent of many undertakings,  Rotarians  being devoted public servants collectively supported and personally handled  the distribution of the school supplies and food stuff to the pupils of Tuguilan Minority School and Taguan Minority School. Everyone saw the ignition in the youthful eyes of the TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE (253)  Kindergarten to Grade VI recipient children with delight as they received the bags which contained paper, pencil, crayons, sharpener, and eraser.  In addition to this, raincoats, umbrellas and white T-shirts were given also to the pupils. To recognize the heroic service of the teachers, Rotarians gave them boxes of chalk, Lesson Plans, Class Records, reams of bond paper.  Upon receiving these items, teachers thoughtfully expressed their gratitude and appreciation to PbP Sonny Girao. True enough, these Rotarians really prove the Rotary’s motto “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.”  Their sacrifices and highly collaborative efforts thereafter showed that there’s really  “PEACE THROUGH SERVICE.”
