I'm Older by Three Years???
After a month of being the President of the Rotary Club of Cavite, my friends would tell me that I’m older by three years. What??? Yup, they said it without any hesitation. Whenever I would go to work the following day after the induction, they would see the visible dark circles around my eyes. Thank you to wonders of a conceiler, I can cheat by putting it on the dark circles to purposefully cover it. One classmate of mine in my Doctorate class texted me, “You look so haggard, but you still look beautiful,” hahaha, yeah right.
Looking back, it’s been a month since I became Global President of the Rotary Club of Cavite. Yes, I do think that I look haggard from time to time which is not my usual aura. But looking back, it was worth it. When I look at my monthly report and see all the things that I was able to accomplish together with my officers and members, all the added “wrinkles” and “white hairs” do not even matter. When I receive text messages or calls thanking me for helping them, it makes everything okay. During the Feeding Program, several kids approached me and thanked me for helping them. Their hugs were priceless. Not even a spa or a new pair shoes could match it. I learned to save even more. Instead of buying new clothes or something to reward myself, I learned to be more lenient and save it for the next activity or as part of my next contribution to the Rotary Foundation.
So am I older by three years.... I guess a little. But I’m wiser and more confident to make a difference in a child’s life, be it one or thousand.
