December 26-30, 2010
Rotary Club of Cavite as represented by yours truly went to Bangkok, Thailand together with IPP Tony Esteban and Rtn/Treasurer Alice Esteban. We went there for a couple of reasons regarding Rotary. We went to attend the fellowship with fellow Rotarians from District 3350 together with our sister club, RC Bangkok Benjasiri. Past Presidents and Past District Governors were there who were also the guest speaker of the said fellowship. We were also invited there to celebrate their Pre New Yearís Party in a Japanese restaurant. We were asked to sing and to dance. In fairness, I am not a singer but I had no choice at all. After the eating and the dancing, IPP Tony and I were invited to give a short speech. I must say that it was one of the best rotary fellowships that Iíve attended. IPP Sumate brought his whole family as well as the other past presidents and district governors. It was truly about friendship and catching up. Their culture was very evident with the way they serve their guests and the way they welcomed us.
Last December 27, I went to Chaiwan District near Udon Thani were we had our International Flagship project. I went there to support the Chaiwanttiya Schoolís Sportsfest. Different games and cheering competitions were held. I was definitely very happy to see all of my students who were the beneficiaries of our flagship project last November. Seeing them again made it even harder for me to go back. It was very nice to hear them speak English more confidently compared before.
Likewise, I also paid a visit to the Assistant Sheriff of Chaiwan district. I also informed her about the on going projects of RC Cavite here in the Philippines. I also represented RC Cavite in supporting their health awareness campaign. Volunteers treated the people there for free. I also visited the public hospital to see its condition.
We were invited to another Rotary Fellowship last December 29 with IPP Sumate together with his family and other Rotarians at Indy Restaurant in Thailand. It was a night of camaraderie.
Also during the Christmas season, RC Cavite got one of the best gifts/blessings, our Global Grant was approved. Come January, the advance party of the Medical Mission under the Global Grant will arrive. Emails and documents are now being processed. Come February, itís a GO signal for the medical mission.
Upon my arrival in the Philippines via PAL which was 40 minutes delayed, I went to Berkís for the Global Presidentís New Year Celebration.
