Rotary International District 3810-Philippines
September 23, 2006, Arayata Sports Complex, Tanza, Cavite
In Cooperation with:
Arayata Sports Complex, Tanza, Cavite, September 23, 2006 - Alexander L. Lacson, author of a nondescript book published in 2005, "12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Out Country" was Guest of Honor and Speaker of District 3810's 2006 New Generation Conference held in Manila and Cavite last September 23, 2006. New Generation Conference Chair Gilbert Yupangco adapted the author's book for this year's conference topic: "Lead The Way Through Little Things!" The conference was held at Emilio Aguinaldo College Sports Auditorium for Manila and Pasay Areas and at Arayata Sports Complex for Cavite Areas attracting a total of around 700 delegates from Interact and Rotaract Clubs of District 3810.
Governor Lyne Abanilla delivered her inspirational message in both locations. The Manila & Pasay Area Conference was hosted by RC Paco Manila with Co-Hosts: RC Bagumbayan-Manila, RC Hiyas ng Maynila, RC Manila East, RC Manila Metro, RC Manila San Miguel, RC Maynilad Seafront, RC Pasay Ilustrado, RC Pasay North, RC Pasay South, and RC Tondo Manila. The Cavite Area was hosted by RC Cavite EPZ with RC Tanza as Co-Host. The District Officers who worked hard for the success of the conference include: New Generations 1 DCC Edison 'Magic' Ong, New Generations Conference Over-all Chairman PP Gilbert Yupangco, New Generations Conference Manila Area Vice Chair PP Benny Lua, New Generations Conference Pasay Area Vice Chair PP Carlos Dolendo and New Generations Conference Cavite Area Vice Chair PP Gabe Trias.
The book, according to the author, has sold almost 25,000 copies on its fourth printing run. The author's theory was simple: Small acts like obeying traffic rules, being a good parent and paying one's taxes could go a long way in healing a wounded nation. Ten months later, the book is proving the power of little things. It apparently struck a chord in many Filipinos who share its author's belief that the fate of the country depends not on its politicians but on its people.
