Public schools officially open this September 13 and at Manila High School, RC Manila 101’s LCP Lady Chris Leonardo, a Master English Teacher provides a Brigada Eskwela Webinar Series for their school teachers, students, families and neighboring barangays with the full support of Manila High School Principal Amor Dugay, a new member of RC Manila 101.
Our passion and shared advocacy in Education, Youth and Urban Farming inspires Manila High School to invite the collaboration of RC Manila 101 in co-hosting the Brigada Eskwela Webinar on “Youth in Agribusiness.”
Jas Nito, President of Binhi Philippines, an Agripreneur, a Go Negosyo National Mentor on Agri Digital Marketing and a new member of RC Manila 101 serves as the Opening Resource Speaker on “Youth in Agribusiness: Micro business Opportunities in Agribusiness.”
Rotarian Jas Nito begins by describing an agripreneur – as one who finds opportunities to make the most of agricultural output, particularly in value-adding. With value adding, this requires tapping into innovation and new markets.
The focus of his talk brings micro-business opportunities for the youth to encourage agribusiness, – from selling compost, seedlings, agri services, horticulture, making jams, pickled ampalaya, and others up to innovative ways of marketing through digital marketplace platforms. He cites the Rotary Agri Digital Marketplace as an example that RI District 3810 Urban Farming Committee is launching this September where Manila High School and the neighboring barangays could market their produce online.
With more than 100 in attendance via Zoom and livestreamed through FB, the topic was well received as it touches not only how to access food for their families, but also how they can have a decent livelihood and income. And as they say, “It takes a village to raise a child.” “It also takes a whole village to feed One child.”
In line with RC Manila 101’s flagship project on “Resilient Urban Gardens” that aims to promote food security, nutrition, livelihood and economic development at Manila High School and the 3 neighboring barangays, the Brigada Eskwela Webinar topic on Youth in Agribusiness is relevant to the times. Manila High School as Rotary Urban Farming Plant City in Manila Area is ready to cultivate and take part in RI DISTRICT 3810’S Green of the Crop Movement!
